The Maqui vs. the Acai Berry
First the world seemed to go acai berry crazy, as soon as Oprah mentioned the small purple fruit on her popular daytime TV show. But, in recent months the Maqui berry has not only risen to meteoric fame, but has now started to overshadow the acai berry.
Read on to find our more about the new Maqui berry, and why it's so much better for you than the acai berry...
Maqui Vs. Acai
When it comes to the two fruits, you'll notice that they have many similarities. Both fruits can only be found in South America (Acai – Brazil, and Maqui from Chile), they are both grape like in appearance and they both taste great too.
You'll also notice that the two fruits have similar health benefits including detoxing and weight loss abilities. But, that's where the similarities end...
Antioxidants
At one time it was the Acai berry that was topping the ORAC scale, contained more antioxidants than any other fruit around. But, times have changed. Since the rise in popularity of the Maqui berry fruit, it has now been discovered that the Maqui contains four times more antioxidants than the acai, making it the world's new number 1 super fruit.
If you don't already know about antioxidants, you maybe wondering why this fact is so important. Well... antioxidants are an essential part of our diets, and we not only need them to help us live longer, but they can also help prevent illnesses such as cancer and heart disease. Before, getting enough daily antioxidants could be quite tricky, and we would often have to turn to blueberries and pomegranates to get small amounts.
When the acai, and now the Maqui were discovered and found to be bursting with antioxidants, it was much easier that ever before for us to get the right amount of antioxidants in our diets to help us stay healthy for longer.
The Maqui Berry the Real Super Fruit
Here's the deal... the more antioxidants, the better the fruit, and because the Maqui berry has so much more than the acai, the Maqui wins, hands down. The Maqui has all the health benefits of the Acai, but at a much higher level, allowing you to get the full benefit of the fruit, helping you stay healthier for much longer.
